Over one hundred years ago, English anthropologist A.C. Haddon described how Goemulgal, the people of Pulu Islet, managed their sacred islet. Goemulgal continue to look after the island today, and now combine these practices, based on their own traditional laws and customs with ongoing land and sea management activities.

Mabuygiw (Mabuiag) Rangers today look after Pulu in a variety of ways. 

Management plan

The current management plan for Pulu IPA outlines the Mabuyag communities' concerns around protecting and conserving the cultural and spiritual significance of Pulu as an area used by Goelmulgal (the people of Mabuyag).  You can download the management plan for Pulu IPA here
