Sea country management

Rangers regularly patrol Pulu and surrounding islets to manage Sea County

Mabuyag Land and Sea Rangers regularly patrol the sea country around Pulu Indigenous Protected Area as a part of their IPA Management Activities. 

Ranger patrols on sea country include the following activitites

• Counting Dhangal (Dugong) numbers
• Turtle track and nest counts (assess turtle numbers and health)
• Removing and documenting marine debris and ghost nets from IPA islands and beaches
• Sea bird monitoring, and
• Monitoring visitors to Pulu and surrounding islands.
